With sadness we announce the death of Bishop John Salt OGS who died on 7 February 2017, fortified by the Rites of Holy Mother Church. Bishop John was a bishop deep wisdom and insight. We thank God for his faithful ministry in St Helena and in retirement in England. May he rest in peace.
At 5 pm on Friday 24 February his body will be received and rest overnight in the Holy House of Our Lady of Walsingham. At 2 pm the following day, Saturday 25 February it will be taken in procession along the Walsingham High Street to the Parish Church of St Mary for a funeral mass beginning at 2.30 pm. Those able to attend may either process from the Shrine Church at 2pm or gather in the parish church. Clergy are invited to robe in cotta and purple stole and process from the Shrine, or join the procession as it arrives at the church. It would be very helpful if clergy intending to be present and robe could let Fr Andrew Mitcham email@example.com know of their intention.
The Shrine has some accommodation available for booking:

Welcoming the news of the appointment of the next Bishop of Sheffield on behalf of The Society, the Rt Revd Tony Robinson, Chairman of the Council of Bishops, said:
'On behalf of The Society, its bishops, priests, deacons, readers, religious and lay people, I am delighted that Bishop Philip North has been chosen by representatives of the Diocese of Sheffield and the national Church to be the next Bishop of Sheffield.
This appointment shows the commitment of the Church of England to live within the Five Guiding Principles. Bishop Philip has shown a strong commitment to them in his own ministry, and has worked for the flourishing of clergy and parishes of all traditions in the Diocese of Blackburn.
Bishop Philip can be assured of our prayers and full support as he prepares to take up this new challenge. We will also pray for the Diocese of Sheffield as they welcome him and support him.'
