The Oversight of The SocietyThe Oversight of The Society rests with the bishops who are members of it.The Bishops of Europe and Blackburn have been nominated as Episcopal protectors of The Society. The Co-ordinating Bishop of The Society has been chosen by the bishops who have to date associated themselves to The Society. He is Bishop Martyn Jarrett, Bishop of Beverley and the Provincial Episcopal Visitor for the Northern Province. It is envisaged that parishes will be able to associate themselves with The Society. In the long term, were the hoped for provision to be made by the General Synod of the Church of England, parishes might have a more structured relationship with The Society. Over the coming months a group will be looking at the formation of a Constitution of the Society. A flourishing and growing future will depend on the synodical process as it unfolds. The Society will be playing a full part in the ongoing discussions about the legislation before the General Synod, encouraging the Catholic group in the Synod and urging a much greater provision for a long term future of the Catholic movement than has hitherto been suggested. It costs nothing to join the Church, and as it is the vision of The Society to become an Ecclesial Body rather than another Catholic society, there is no subscription fee. Membership is free! However, it is our hope that, when our constitution has been sufficiently completed, those who wish to join The Society and can afford to do so, will make a small financial contribution towards meeting its administrative costs.
